How much do photo sessions cost?

Paula Mason Photography offers several session packages to fit different needs and budgets. Mini sessions start at $400 and are perfect for quick updates, holiday cards, or milestone moments. Standard sessions start at $650 and include approximately 60 minutes of shooting time with outfit changes. Deluxe sessions are $850 and include extended time with multiple locations. The Platinum package at $1,500 is a premium experience with full-day coverage. Sports team packages are available upon request. What is included in a photo session?

Every session includes a pre-session consultation where we discuss locations, outfits, and what you want from your photos. On the day of the shoot, Paula guides you through natural poses and captures candid moments throughout. After the session, your photos are professionally edited and delivered to a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images. The number of final edited images varies by package. Paula's editing style focuses on natural, true-to-life color with clean, timeless processing.

Where do you take photos?

Paula photographs at outdoor locations throughout Allen, Frisco, McKinney, and Plano. Popular session locations include Bethany Lakes Park in Allen, Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve, Oak Point Park in Plano, downtown McKinney, Adriatica Village, and Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. Location selection depends on the type of session, the time of year, and your personal style. Paula will recommend locations based on your preferences during the pre-session consultation. She is also happy to shoot at a location you choose, including your home or a spot with personal meaning.

When should I book my senior portrait session?

Most seniors book their sessions between the summer before senior year and early fall. The most popular months are June through October, with August and September being the busiest. Spring sessions are also a great option, especially during Texas bluebonnet season in March and April. Paula recommends booking at least four to six weeks in advance, and earlier during peak season. If you are a junior thinking ahead, booking a summer session before senior year ensures you have images ready for yearbook deadlines, graduation announcements, and social media before school starts.

How long does a photo session take?

Session length depends on the package you choose. Mini sessions run approximately 20 to 30 minutes and are designed for quick, focused shoots. Standard sessions are approximately 60 minutes, which allows time for outfit changes and multiple poses at one location. Deluxe sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and can include a second location. Platinum sessions are the most flexible and can span several hours. Paula keeps sessions relaxed and fun so they never feel rushed, even during shorter mini sessions.

How and when do I receive my photos?

After your session, Paula professionally edits your images and uploads them to a private online gallery. Most galleries are delivered within approximately two weeks of the session date (often much faster). You will receive an email with a link to view and download your photos. The online gallery remains active for 90 days from the delivery date. Paula recommends downloading and backing up your images promptly. If you need photos on a rush timeline for a yearbook deadline or event, let Paula know when booking and she will do her best to accommodate.

What should we wear for our photo session?

Coordinating colors works better than matching exactly. Neutral tones, earth tones, and soft colors photograph beautifully in natural light. Adding layers like a jacket, scarf, or cardigan creates visual interest and gives you options during the session. Avoid large logos, neon colors, and busy patterns that can distract from faces. For family sessions, choose a color palette of two to three complementary colors and have each family member wear something within that range. For senior sessions, bring two to three outfits that reflect your personality. Paula provides a detailed style guide before every session with specific recommendations.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

Weather happens, especially in Texas. If rain or severe weather is in the forecast, Paula will reach out to discuss options. In most cases, sessions can be rescheduled to the next available date at no additional cost. Light overcast skies actually produce beautiful, even lighting for portraits, so a cloudy day is not a reason to reschedule. Paula monitors the weather closely and will make a call about rescheduling as early as possible so you are not left wondering. What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Paula is happy to reschedule your session with 48 hours notice at no charge. Rescheduling within the 48-hour window may result in loss of your session deposit. For complete information about cancellations, see the cancellation policy.

How long do I have to download my pictures and order prints?

Your pictures will be available in the Client Gallery for 90 days after they are delivered to you. Paula recommends downloading and backing up your images promptly so you have them saved before the gallery expires.

Can I request a specific photo that was not included in my gallery?

Because the quality of unedited photos varies widely, Paula never releases photos without first editing them. When she delivers your photos, she selects the best shots, taking your comments during the photoshoot regarding the poses you like into consideration. If you would like to see a pose that is not included in your gallery, let Paula know. Assuming the photo is of sufficient quality, she will edit it and add it to your gallery. Please limit your request to no more than two poses.

Can I have all the unedited photos from my shoot?

Because the quality of unedited photos varies widely, Paula never releases photos without first editing them. If you would like additional editing of your photos beyond what is included in your package, this service is available for $50 per hour with a $100 minimum.

Can I bring my dog or pet to our family photo session?

Absolutely. Pets are part of the family and Paula loves including them in sessions. Dogs are the most common guests, but she has photographed families with all kinds of animals. For the smoothest experience, consider having your pet join for the first portion of the session when they are most energetic, then let a friend or family member take them so you can finish with just the human members of the family. Bring treats and a favorite toy to help keep their attention. Paula is patient and experienced with pets, so do not worry if your dog does not cooperate perfectly.

Do you travel outside of Allen for sessions?

Yes. While Paula is based in Allen, she regularly photographs sessions throughout the north Dallas-Fort Worth area including Frisco, McKinney, Plano, and surrounding communities. She has also traveled to downtown Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, and College Station for sessions. Travel within the Allen, Frisco, McKinney, and Plano area is included in all session packages. For locations outside this core service area, a travel fee may apply depending on distance. Contact Paula to discuss your preferred location.

What if my kids will not cooperate during the session?

This is one of the most common concerns parents have, and Paula has years of experience working with children of all ages. The key is keeping the session fun and low-pressure. Paula builds in time for kids to warm up and does not expect anyone to sit still and smile on command. Some of the best family photos come from candid moments between the posed shots. For younger children, bringing a favorite snack, toy, or bubbles can help. Paula's approach is to capture your family as you actually are, which means movement, laughter, and genuine expressions are welcome.

How do I book a session?

Booking is simple. Visit the contact page and fill out the inquiry form, or email [email protected]. Paula will respond within 48 hours to discuss your session goals, recommend a package, suggest locations, and schedule your date. A deposit is required to reserve your session date. Once booked, you will receive a detailed preparation guide with tips on outfits, timing, and what to expect on the day of your shoot.
