Why Sunsets Make Senior Pictures So Special
I love getting to spend time soaking up some golden light with seniors at many lovely parks right here in and around the Allen/Frisco/McKinney area. And some days, I travel down to Dallas to some of the beautiful parks there as well.
If you’ve been around here a while, you know I have one major weakness—soft, dreamy natural light. I use flashes for some things, but when I am at the right spot at the right time and the sun is shining right through the trees, it’s magical. I love it when the sun drifts through the trees just perfectly, scattering that magical glow across the grass.
When you combine the perfect light with so many amazing and beautiful outfits, you end up with a wonderful gallery of pictures to enjoy and look back on after your senior graduates. There’s just something so exciting about capturing this big milestone right where the Texas breeze and a gorgeous rising or setting sun can join in for a photo or two.

The Beauty of Classic Black & White
Just as you all know how much I love natural light, you probably also know that I always like to include a black & white version of a few pictures from every shoot.
There’s a timelessness in those tones. When you look back years from now, the focus will be on the feeling—the joy, bravery, and hope that makes this season so unforgettable. And often times, a picture just needs a black & white edit. I know it’s not for everyone, but I will always add a nice black & white version of a few of the pictures in your gallery. They just might end up being your favorites…
Quick Tips for Dreamy Senior Pictures in Texas Parks
- Pick your time carefully: Sunset (or early morning) gives you that gentle, glowy light we all love.
- Dress to blend with nature: Soft, simple colors and florals look beautiful among the trees!
- Relax and just be yourself: A genuine smile outshines any perfect pose—promise.
