One of the packages I offer for photos is a Mini Session. On my website, it is described as a session that works well for short family sessions, outdoor headshots, and holiday family photos. Mini Sessions work because they are quick and easy. There is not time for outfit changes or location changes, or complicated extended family situations.
I offer these a few times each month (mostly on Monday afternoons/evenings), and they always get booked up quickly! Many people just need a few great pics for their Christmas card, a graduation announcement, or just an updated family picture on their wall. So…each month, there are a few Mini Sessions available on my schedule.
Well, this holiday season, I had so many requests for Mini Sessions that I decided to try something new. There was no way to get pictures of all the families that wanted to schedule Mini Sessions, so I decided to schedule an entire day of Mini Sessions that would be scheduled back to back. And by back to back, I mean that every 15-20 minutes, I had a new family coming in for pictures!
It was fast and furious with not much time for chatting with new families or catching up with families I see each year. All families who signed up for these special Holiday Mini Sessions understood that this would not be like my normal Mini Sessions when we have about 20 minutes for pictures, and then a few minutes on the way back to our cars to chat and catch up. At these typical Mini Sessions that are offered on my website through the year, I do not schedule families back to back. Sometimes I schedule them close together, but there is always enough time to talk a little bit in between the sessions.
Well…for my Holiday Mini Sessions I offered, there was no time to chat. And do you know what? I think it was a very successful adventure! I was a little nervous because I had never scheduled sessions like this before, but the day was so successful that I am planning to offer it again.
But why wait until Christmas time to offer it? How about a Spring Mini Session day? When the flowers are blooming and the weather is nice and cool. You know…before summer weather hits us here in Texas in April??
Hopefully the weather will not be summer like already in April, but you never know. Usually in April we have some wonderful bluebonnet fields popping up around town. Wouldn’t that be a fun reason to have a day of Spring Mini Sessions? Maybe I’ll try that next. Now that I have an assistant to help me out, these days are much easier.
My assistant, Julie, is able to meet and greet families with the Photo Authorization contract and get you all ready for your session while I finish up the family before you. Those of you who did Holiday Mini Sessions with me got to meet her. It’s amazing having someone there to help. If you did not have the chance to meet her yet, don’t worry. She will be putting out a blog post soon.
If you’re interested in Mini Sessions and you think that a Spring Mini Session is right for you, be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram. This is where I’ll advertise dates for those sessions. I will put out a schedule several weeks before, so be on the lookout this coming Spring. Hard to believe it will be Spring of 2023!
As for more Holiday Mini Sessions for 2023….YES! It was such a hit this season, that we will definitely be doing them again next year. But we will start much earlier. So look for some advertising for those in October. What will the location be next time? Well…Rocketship Park was a hit, but we’re thinking we should try something different next year. We haven’t decided yet, so stay tuned!
In the mean time, if I can help you with family, senior, or sports pictures (or anything else you might need), you can find me over at Paula Mason Photography! Just let me know how I can help!
Until next time….
