Is it too hot to schedule a photo session right now? That is a question I get off and on throughout the summer. And the answer is no. It is not too hot to schedule a photo session. Is it hot? YES! It is very hot. But if we avoided scheduling photo sessions because of warm weather, there would be very few days or months that were ideal for pictures in Texas. Right?

This summer has been extra warm for photos, but luckily, most clients are okay with a morning photo session. But don’t worry…I’ve done a few evening sessions as well in the last couple of months, and I’m still here to blog about it. Most locations where I shoot photos have many nice shady areas where you can hide from the sun, so it doesn’t feel quite as hot.

But if you’re looking to escape the heat, then a morning photo session is a much better choice for you. We can meet about 8:00 or 8:30 before the sun warms things up, and then you can have the rest of the day to spend in the pool or inside where it’s nice and cool.

I’ve had several sessions during this heat wave this summer, and all of them have gone well. It is hot, but as long as you come with the proper supplies, it will all be okay. When you come to your session, be sure to bring some cold water, a small snack, and maybe a towel for sweat! If you have lots of makeup on, bring your makeup bag with you in case you need to freshen up.

I’ve also had families who leave the car running (when we’re close by), so we can easily make a quick trip to the car for some air conditioning if you get too hot. This has been especially great for my senior sessions. A nice, cool car is the best place to cool down and change outfits!

So if I can help you out, don’t wait for the weather to change. It might be a while before that happens. Just come prepared and everything will be just fine. You can find me over at Paula Mason Photography if you need me. But if you’re still too scared to meet me outside somewhere, pick out any of the indoor studios in the area and I’ll meet you there!

Until next time…
