Sometimes a quick trip to my favorite little meadow is just enough. When I don’t have the time (or the energy) to drive all the way to Hagerman for a full day of chasing birds, driving down the road to Connemara Meadow Preserve, is just what I need.
If you haven’t been, it is right in Allen, and it is a hidden little gem for people looking for birds (and other wildlife) to photograph. I absolutely love going to visit Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, but sometimes I’m just not up for the drive to get there, and I just want to snap a few pictures and hike just a little bit.
When this is the case, Connemara is just right. It was a beautiful day when I visited earlier this week, and when you go early in the morning, while most people are still asleep, it’s so quiet and peaceful.
And as always, there are so many beautiful birds to photograph. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a nice, quiet place that is close to home, but makes you feel like you’re out in the middle of the country…
Hope you get a chance to visit Connemara sometime soon. Enjoy the pictures!
Until next time…
