Why Your Headshot Should Be Anything But Boring
When most people think “headshot,” I know exactly what pops into their heads—a plain backdrop, a stiff pose, and a forced smile that says, “I’d rather be anywhere else.” But who says a headshot has to be boring? Certainly not me—and definitely not my latest client, a local pilot who wanted something with a lot more personality.
We headed out to McKinney National Airport on a bright, chilly morning. You know that feeling when the day is too pretty to spend indoors? It was one of those. Well…it was hot because we’re in Texas, but it was still sunny and beautiful. As we pulled up, there he was—cool as you please—leaning against his sleek silver convertible, the plane gleaming behind him in the sun. I knew instantly we were about to create something special.
From The Hangar To The Horizon
The session was all about blending his world of flying with his personal style. We started in the hangar for some classic shots—him in his element, surrounded by all that polished metal and potential. But my favorite moments happened outside, where the sunlight played off the car and aircraft, adding this adventurous energy to every frame. The pilot’s relaxed vibe, that easy smile, and the cool reflection of his shades—let’s just say these weren’t your average headshots.
What I loved most was how the session felt like an extension of who he is—ambitious, a little bit daring, and definitely ready for his next adventure. It wasn’t just about capturing his face; it was about telling his story in a way that makes people want to know more. And after this session, I’m ready to head up in the airplane with him and test my skills at aerial photography!
