Last week, I had the absolute joy of photographing a senior session that was special on so many levels. Yes, it was a very hot summer night (the kind where your camera and your clothes feel like they might melt), but the heat didn’t even come close to dulling the excitement of this shoot.

This senior isn’t just any client—he’s someone I’ve known for several years. He and my son played baseball together in high school, and through countless games, practices at D-bat, and conversations at the tournaments and games at the school, our families became great baseball friends. So when his mom reached out about senior photos, I was so happy. It’s always meaningful to capture these moments, but it hits a little differently when you’ve watched someone play catcher to your child as pitcher.

And then came the cherry on top, that made this session even better…

He told me he wanted to bring his Jeep to the shoot. If you know me, and have done a session with me before, you know I’m a Jeep driver, so you can imagine how pumped I was. But this wasn’t just any Jeep—it was his dad’s old Jeep. He’s been driving it as his own, and there’s something really special about that. It’s more than a vehicle; it’s a piece of family history, and that made the photos even more meaningful.

We met in a great part of downtown with tons of character—cool brick walls, industrial vibes, gravel alleyways, and wide open spaces that made the perfect backdrop for a Jeep-loving senior. It felt like the Jeep belonged there. So did he.

But he didn’t stop there. He brought more than just his wheels. He brought just the right amount of props to showcase what his high school years had been about.

He showed up with his baseball glove, bat, a baseball, and his letter jacket—each item a symbol of years of hard work, dedication, and passion. As we moved from shot to shot, you could feel the pride in who he is and what he’s accomplished. We captured a mix of classic portraits, relaxed lifestyle shots, and some truly fun images with his gear and his Jeep. It was the kind of session that tells you everything you need to know about someone without saying a word.

To this awesome senior—thank you for bringing the heat (literally and figuratively), for being yourself, and for letting me freeze this amazing chapter in time. Your future’s looking just as bold and exciting as that Jeep you’re cruising in. I had so much fun at this session.

Do you have a car you love? Or something else that represents a big part of your high school years? If so, bring it to your session. I promise you, we can work it into your shots. As always, you can find me over at Paula Mason Photography. Just send me a message at [email protected] if you have questions.

I can’t wait to meet you and get some amazing pictures for you!

Until next time…
