“How many outfits should I bring to my senior photo session” is a question I get asked all the time. I don’t have an exact answer, because it really depends on how much time you want to spend taking pictures, and how much time you want to spend changing clothes. Every session is a bit different, depending on the senior.

I will say that typically, the boys have a much simpler wardrobe, usually showing up to a senior photo session with two shirts. They usually wear jeans and a dress shirt, and then half-way through their session, they change into a casual (college) t-shirt. Simple, right?

Much simpler than some of the senior girls. Some come with just a simple wardrobe similar to the guys, but some come with a small closet travel bag full of clothes. But lately, it seems that hats have been a big item to bring to senior sessions, and I realize that adding a simple hat to an outfit, changes the look completely.

It’s often quite a task to change an outfit completely (usually in the car) and get hair, jewelry, and all the other things ready to go, but adding a hat is easy – it can be done right out in the open. A trip back to the car isn’t necessary.

When you’re trying to decide what outfits to bring to your senior session, why don’t you consider a fun hat (or two)? And as a senior, maybe one of those hats can be your graduation cap! Another great, and easy to transport idea is a scarf or a jacket. Add one or take it off to completely change your look.

Or even easier…how about a fun pair of shoes?? Fun boots or some bright pink heels? Maybe add a pair of crazy, bright sunglasses for a few shots? So many accessories you can consider to change up your look.

Your senior photo session should be fun! Not stressful. So when you’re planning your senior photo session, keep that in mind. What a fun time in your child’s (soon to be adult) life to capture. If I can help you out with a senior photo session this year, you can find me over at Paula Mason Photography.

And by the way…if you didn’t have your senior’s photos taken this past fall, now is the time to schedule. At least before May when things get extra crazy!! So pack up your bag of fun accessories and let’s get out there and take some senior pictures. Let me know how I can help you with your senior photo session, or any other family pictures you need.

Until next time…
